Causes of Skin Allergies

There are many culprits in the fight against skin allergies; and pinpointing the exact cause of your allergen is important. It may be a common ingredient, such as the fragrance used in laundry soap or preservatives in your hand lotion. Others find that a seemingly "all natural" ingredient such as tea tree oil is making them break out. In some cases, patients are allergic to a chemical in the workplace.

Coping with a skin allergy can be tricky in the beginning. You may find few products that are "safe" or that it's harder than you thought to avoid an allergen at work. These are problems Dr. Harrison will assist you in solving.

TrueSkin Dermatology and Surgery, Inc. is the Intermountain West's exclusive facility for comprehensive skin allergy testing for over 100 allergens. We offer a comprehensive 5 day test that is personalized to the patient's environment.

Self diagnosis is generally not a good idea. Proper evaluation of a skin rash and/or allergies requires a visit to a dermatologist or health-care professional so that effective treatment can be provided.
